China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, Chen complete training provided data show that from January to August , China's major rare earth mining, smelting enterprises realized main business income of 45 billion yuan , down 14.9% , fixed assets investment 6.2 billion yuan , up increase of 19.2 percent , import and export trade of rare earth industry $ 1.4 billion , down 39.4% .

However, the current development of rare earth industry quality and efficiency is not high.

Data show that from January to August , rare earth mining, smelting enterprises realized profits of only 3.2 billion yuan , down 62.1 percent . CHEN Quan Xun said that the current development of China's rare earth industry, the extensive mode of resource utilization efficiency is not high , separation, smelting serious excess capacity , high-end application development lags behind, severe ecological damage .

In this regard , the Ministry has proposed the formation of large rare earth industry groups and to encourage corporate mergers and acquisitions , to resolve overcapacity phenomenon.
