Prices for tungsten concentrates produced by mines and the intermediate tungsten powers made by the secondary processors are quoted in metric tonne units (mtu). An mtu is made up of 10kg of WO3, as contained within the particular material in question, concentrates or APT (this relationship conveniently lead to the fact that a 1% resource grade is equal to 1 mtu). The two materials for which prices are quoted widely and reported in mtu of WO3 are listed as following:
1.tungsten trioxide, WO3, (containing 79.3% tungsten metal), as the critical constituent in the minerals in mine concentrates
2.ammonium paratungstate, APT, the main secondary downstream product made from concentrates.

Scheelite is a calcium tungstate mineral with the chemical formula CaWO4. It is an important ore of tungsten. Here are some descriptions about the Tungsten Scheelite.
Tungsten's crystals are in the tetragonal crystal system, appearing as dipyramidal pseudo-octahedra.There are some colors included, such as orange, yellow, brownish green and pinkish and colorless.Scheelite possesses distinct cleavage and its fracture may be subconchoidal to uneven. Its specific gravity is high at 5.9–6.1 and its hardness is low at 4.5–5.Aside from pseudo-octahedra, scheelite is thought to be columnar, granular, tabular or massive in its habit. Scheelite's refractive index are both moderately high. These factors contribute to scheelite's high lustre and perceptible "fire", getting close to that of diamond.

Occurence and History of Tungsten Scheelite

Scheelite often occurs in tin-bearing veins and is always found in association with gold. Fine crystals have been obtained from Caldbeck Fells in Cumbria, Zinnwald/Cínovec and Elbogen in Bohemia, Guttannen in Switzerland elsewhere. At Trumbull in Connecticut and Kimpu-san in Japan large crystals of scheelite completely altered to wolframite have been found: people from Japan have been called “reinite.”
Scheelite was first described in 1781 for an occurrence in Mount Bispbergs klack, Dalarna, Sweden, and named for Carl Wilhelm Scheele. Because of its unusual heaviness, it had been given the name tungsten by the Swedes, meaning “heavy stone.” The name was later used to describe the metal, while the ore itself was given the name scheelite.

How to Identify Tungsten Ore-2

5.Measure the crystal's specific gravity -- its weight compared with its volume. It is a good way to identify minerals. The specific gravity of wolframite is 7.40 grams per cubic centimeter. The specific gravity of scheelite is 6.01 grams per cubic centimeter. If you do not obtain access to such equipment, heft the sample in your palm. Both minerals should feel quite heavy for their sizes.
6.Place a magnet on a mineral thought to be wolframite. Wolframite includes iron, making it slightly metallic.
7.Shine a UV light on a mineral considered to be scheelite. Scheelite fluoresces bright white-blue under a UV light if it is very pure, and creamy yellow if it contains molybdenum.
8.Examine the other minerals that may have formed on your specimen. Wolframite often develops with topaz and quartz. Scheelite often develops with tremolite, tourmaline, topaz, vesuvianite, cassiterite, fluorite, diopside and apatite. What’s more, wolframite and scheelite are usually found together.
