The tungsten-contained superalloy GH4098 owns a higher-temperature bearing capacity and is often applied to make turbines in aero engines, blades, and other bearing parts. The mass fraction of tungsten (W) is 5.5%-7.0%, and the long-term working temperature can reach 1000°C. Another example is GH5188 alloy, where the mass fraction of W is 14%, which can increase the maximum operating temperature to 1100°C.
Tungsten is an irreplaceable and non-renewable strategic metal resource in the national economy and modern defense. It is a metal element with the highest melting point (3422°C). It has the advantage of high specific gravity and high hardness. W is widely used in aerospace, defense, military, and optoelectronics.
The superalloy, also known as high-temperature alloy, refers to a type of metal based on iron, nickel, and cobalt that could work for a long time at a high temperature above 600 ℃ and certain stress. It has the properties of excellent temperature strength, good oxidation resistance, and fracture toughness, mainly used in aerospace and energy fields. It is reported that in modern advanced aero-engines, the amount of superalloy materials accounts for 40%-60% of the total number of engines.
A few days ago, Dongbei Special Steel Group Co., Ltd. successfully developed and produced a new product of tungsten-contained superalloy GH4098 high-temperature alloy strip for aero engines. After inspection, all performance indicators of the product meet the standard requirements.
It is understood that GH4098 belongs to the Ni-Cr-based precipitation hardening deformation superalloy. Due to the addition of tungsten and other elements, the comprehensive strengthening effect is obvious, and it owns excellent high-temperature strength, hot workability and welding performance, the working temperature can reach 1000℃.
The tungsten-contained superalloy products are mainly used to make high-temperature parts such as aero engine turbine blades, heat shields, tail nozzles and afterburners. Such products produced abroad have been used in aero engines, stiffeners, aircraft fixture, and other parts whose working temperature reaches 1000℃.
