Tungsten Concentrate Electric Separation

Electric separation utilizes different conductivity of mine and vein mineral grain, can process electric classification and separation in high voltage electric field. It is effective method to separate tungsten and tin in tungsten scheelite. But it is also used in tungsten concentrate gravity separation.

As we all know, in the south of Jiangxi, tungsten contains a lot of phosphorus. It is special rare earth mineral – xenotime. Xenotime is the main content of rare earth mineral which contains 61.4% yttria, and other elements like eibrum, cerium, lanthanum and thorium. They are all strategic resource which can be recycled. Xenotime also have magnetic property, so magnetic separation can not separate it from concentrate. It affects purity of concentrate and can not realize recycle for integrated application.

Tungsten concentrate is conductive, so electric separation is the best choice. In tungsten concentrate gravity separation, firstly separate tungsten concentrate and other inmagnetic mineral by magnetic separation, then use electric separation to separate concentrate and xenotime. Some tungsten enterprises use electric separation to separate concentrate and other non-conducting mineral, then use flotation method to separate xenotime and scheelite.

By tungsten concentrate electric separation, tungsten enterprises can separate concentrate and xenotime effectively and easily. Both of them are important strategic resources, their integrated exploration can achieve win-win result in company profit and national interest.
