Tungsten Scheelite Electric Separation

Tungsten scheelite electric separation can separate tungsten and tin. In nature, tungsten is always accompanied by tin. Their density is almost the same and is hard to be taken apart. In the past, flotation method or high temperature chloride volatilization method are used, but there exists some shortcomings.

Practice proves that flotation method can not lower tin content in tungsten scheelite below 0.2%. High temperature chloride volatilization consumes electricity power and generates a lot of hydro chloride in the process which will pollute environment. Fortunately, people finally discovered conductivity difference between scheelite and tin. Tungsten scheelite is non-conducting but tin is conductive. Use power classification can separate them effectively. So tungsten scheelite electric separation is invented.

Drum electric separator is widely used nowadays. It is strict in requirement of mineral grain size, usually ideal grain size is 0.5mm~1.5mm. If grain size is less than 74um, it won’t fit. So in 1995, scientists invented suspension electric separator to deal with fine grain size mineral.

Tungsten scheelite electric separation is an important assistant method of beneficiation. It integrates advantages of flotation method and high temperature chloride volatilization method, it is both effective and environmental friendly, can perfectly separate tungsten and tin. With more strict requirement for purity of tungsten ore and tin ore, product with high quality will be more popular.
