Tungstate

Tungstate consists of wolframate radical or poly tungsten acid radical. Ammonium ions, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals and many heavy metal cations can form tungstates. Apart from alkali metal, ammonium and magnesium salts, most tungstate is insoluble in water.

Common seen tungstate includes sodium tungstate, calcium tungstate, cobalt tungstate, cadmium tungstate, ferro tungstate, ammonium tungstate and zinc tungstate. Calcium tungstate and ferro tungstate exist separately in tungsten scheelite and tungsten concentrate.

There are many synthesis methods of tungstate. According to specific requirement for product property or application, different methods are chosen. Four common seen synthesis methods are ion exchange method, chemical deposition method, micro emulsion method and pulling method. Ammonium paratungstate and ammonium metatungstate are main medium products in our export and import trade of tungsten.

Tungstate is a very important inorganic functional material, because of its chemical stability, optical, electrical, magnetic properties, wear and corrosion resistance, non-toxic characteristics, is widely used in optical materials, magnetic materials , ceramic materials, antibacterial materials, preservatives, catalysts, dyes and so on. At present, the research and development of tungstate functional materials mainly focus on photocatalytic materials and luminescent materials, which are of great significance to national defense, medicine and environmental protection.
