Calcium Tungstate

Calcium tungstate is also called artificial scheelite, chemical formula is CaWO4, they have same composition but different function. Tungsten scheelite is original mineral without processing, calcium tungstate is chemical products of tungstate.

There are three main method to produce calcium tungstate: extract from tungsten scheelite, mix sodium tungstate and calcium chloride, react calcium oxide and tungsten oxide in carbonate solution.

Calcium tungstate has the widest application in all tungstate. It is self active illuminator, white flake crystalline, density is 6.062, soluble in ammonium chloride solution, insoluble in water, non-conducting and decompose in heated acid.

Calcium tungstate spectrum wave length is 423nm under 253.7nm lightening of ultraviolet ray, and blue fluorescence with widen 120nm. Under stimulation of cathode ray, there can also be anode electric pressure 3kV, blue light wavelength 415nm. According to these properties, calcium tungstate is used in X-ray, electric beams, ultraviolet ray and other optical field.

Calcium tungstate is important chemical raw material, can be used to produce ammonium paratungstate, tungsten trioxide, ferro tungsten, tungsten alloy, tungsten carbide and so on. But its most important application is in optical field, such as fluorescence painting, laser, fluorescence light, high voltage signal tube or oscilloscope.
