The photocatalysis of WO3-ZnO composite film is attracting much attention. According to the experts, WO3 is an important non-toxic semiconductor material with a narrow band gap (2.4-2.8eV) that can be used as a catalyst in the photocatalytic reaction for the catalytic degradation of organic substances in sewage. So, the preparation of WO3-ZnO composite film has become a major research hotspot, and its photocatalytic performance has paid much attention.

Some experts used sol-gel method to prepare WO3-ZnO composite film on aluminum foil, and modified it with activated carbon. Also, they studied the photocatalytic degradation performance of WO3-ZnO film using methyl orange solution to simulate organic pollutants. The results showed that when the incandescent lamp was irradiated for 2h and the mass fraction of WO3 was 2.5%, the degradation rate of WO3-ZnO-aluminum foil to methyl orange reached 78.54%; the degradation rate reached 99.89% under ultraviolet light irradiation. When the doping amount of activated carbon is 10 g/L, the obtained WO3-ZnO composite film is uniform with good photocatalytic performance. The degradation rate of methyl orange under visible light irradiation reaches 85.71%.
