Waste Tungsten Powder Recycling Strategy

In the traditional recovery and treatment of waste tungsten powder, the powder waste tungsten powder is first oxidized into tungsten oxide, and then tungsten oxide is dissolved by alkali to form tungstate. In this way, not only the process is complex, but also the efficiency is very low. The oxidation rate of waste tungsten powder is usually less than 50%. Unoxidized tungsten powder needs to be recycled by other methods again.
In order to improve the recovery rate and production efficiency of tungsten, it can solve the problems of environmental pollution, tungsten loss and safety hazard caused by waste tungsten dust. Some scholars have optimized and fully mixed waste tungsten powder with coke and sodium bicarbonate. After press molding, the formed waste tungsten powder is chemically reacted in a layered static furnace and directly converted into sodium tungstate, the most common and easily processed tungstate. The specific steps are as follows:
1)The waste tungsten powder, coke and sodium bicarbonate are mixed to obtain the mixture.
2)The mixture is processed and pressed into a cylindrical mixture with a diameter of 3-5 cm and a length of 5-8 cm.
3)The obtained cylindrical mixtures are loaded into the charging pans of the hierarchical static furnace and into the preheating zone of the hierarchical static furnace.
4)Cylindrical mixtures are preheated in the preheating zone of the cascade static furnace. The preheating time is 1-1.5 H.
5)The preheated charging tray is transferred to the reaction zone of the hierarchical static furnace to react, and the cylindrical mixture is peeled off layer by layer into a mixture of sodium tungstate.
6)Sodium tungstate solution was obtained by dissolving the mixture of sodium tungstate in the dissolving tank.
The mixture of sodium tungstate formed after transformation is dissolved in the dissolution tank to form sodium tungstate solution, which is beneficial for subsequent conversion into saleable tungsten products. Sodium tungstate can be converted into ammonium paratungstate products by various known methods, and the whole conversion process from waste tungsten powder to final product can be realized. It achieves the excellent effect of making the recovery of waste tungsten powder more efficient, thorough, free of environmental pollution and potential safety hazards, and provides strong support for the recovery of valuable tungsten resources in the country.
