Tailings Slurry Treatment by Flocculation Flotation

In the process of scheelite flotation, a large amount of sodium silicate was added as gangue inhibitor or dispersant. The presence of sodium silicate makes it difficult to clarify tailings water, especially for a large number of fine suspended solids to settle under gravity.

In view of the problems of high energy consumption, high cost and complex process of existing technology, flocculation treatment of scheelite tailings slurry can solve the above problems. Flocculation flotation is a new method of Scheelite Flotation which has been gradually applied in China in recent years. This method is mainly aimed at scheelite with low grade and high impurities. Its working principle is that small tungsten particles are aggregated into clusters with collectors in high speed and strong stirring, and the flotability of scheelite after aggregation is improved and it becomes easy to separate. Similarly, this method can also be used to treat tailings slurry. For example:

After a tungsten ore is concentrated, the remaining slurry is mixed with the remaining slurry of roughing, and the mixed slurry is obtained. The pH value of the mixed slurry is 10-11, and the content of silicate radical is more than 2000 mg/L. It is difficult to remove the mixed slurry, especially the fine slurry, which remains turbid for a long time. Take 1L pulp, add sulphuric acid to adjust the pH value to 6-7, then add non-ionic polypropylene imide twice. The adding system of non-ionic polypropylene imide is as follows:

For the first time, nonionic polypropylene imide was added in the proportion of 10G nonionic polypropylene imide per cubic meter.

For the second time, nonionic polypropylene imide was added in the proportion of 10G nonionic polypropylene imide per cubic meter.

The molecular weight of the nonionic polypropylene imine is 6 million.

The time interval between two adjacent addition of nonionic polypropylene imide was 3 minutes. After aging for 1 hour, the recovered liquor was clarified.

Flocculation flotation method has the advantages of no power consumption and low energy consumption, no need to use electrodes, no long-term use of electrodes is polluted, which affects the treatment effect, no need to add oxidant in the treatment process, no residue in the backwater, and no impact on water quality. It has the advantages of simple treatment process, low consumption of reagents, low cost of reagent management and low cost of unit consumption.
