Zinc Tungstate Photocatalyst

Zinc tungstate is a kind of tungstate, the formula is ZnWO4. As a photocatalyst, zinc tungstate has the appearance of white powder, and most of the size is of nano-level.

Zinc tungstate has two forms, crystal form and powder form. Crystals are monoclinic and luminescent semiconductor materials which mainly used for optical fibers and flash materials. Powder morphology is mainly used for photocatalyst.

The main synthesis methods of zinc tungstate are as follows: precipitation, microemulsion, sol-gel and hydrothermal synthesis. Hydrothermal synthesis is an economical and effective method to prepare nano zinc tungstate.

As a new photocatalyst, bismuth tungstate has the following characteristics: (1) favorable response of ultraviolet and visible light; (2) easy to embellish and modify; (3) large surface area and stable photocatalytic effect; (4) environmentally-friendly and no secondary pollution.

In the field of photocatalysis, zinc tungstate and bismuth tungstate each have their own strengths. Relatively speaking, due to the flash characteristics of zinc tungstate, its degradation of dye wastewater has better effect. In order to improve the photocatalytic nature of zinc tungstate, they are also often doped and modified, such as fluorine-doped zinc tungstate, bamboo charcoal composite zinc tungstate and so on.

Bismuth tungstate photocatalyst is mainly used to degrade dye wastewater, pesticide wastewater, medical wastewater, etc. It’s not only highly-effective, but also won’t cause secondary pollution to the environment which makes the industrial wastewater treatment from troublesome to simple.
