Terbium Oxide Price – June 14, 2024

Chinese rare earth market as a whole showed a mixed pattern of ups and downs in the week ended on Friday, June 14, 2024.

From the supply side, due to the long-term weakness of downstream buying interest and the closeness of the selling price of rare earth raw materials to the cost price, many suppliers have reduced their production. In addition, supported by production costs, some suppliers have tentatively increased their quotations.

From the demand side, due to the obvious "buy high, not buy low" mentality of traders, poor market outlook and lower-than-expected consumption by end customers, magnetic material companies have fewer inquiries.

According to statistics from Chinatungsten Online, the current price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide has dropped by about 2,000 yuan/ton compared with last week, a decrease of 0.55%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal has dropped by about 3,000 yuan/ton compared with last week, a decrease of 0.67%; the price of terbium oxide has dropped by about 90 yuan/kg compared with last week, a decrease of 1.55%; the price of dysprosium oxide has dropped by about 10,000 yuan/ton compared with last week, a decrease of 0.53%; the price of 55N NdFeB blank has dropped by about 3 yuan/kg compared with last week, a decrease of 1.55%; the price of NdFeB scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) has remained the same as last week. It can be seen that the price decline of mainstream light and heavy rare earth products this week is smaller than that of the previous week or two.

In terms of news, data from the General Administration of Customs showed that my country imported 13,746.7 tons of rare earth commodities in May 2024, a month-on-month increase of 4.6%; and exported 6,217 tons of rare earth commodities, a month-on-month increase of 36.2%. From January to May 2024, my country's cumulative imports of rare earth products were 62,589.2 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.3%; and cumulative exports of rare earth products were 24,266.5 tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%.
