Chinese Rare Earth Prices - January 4, 2024

The overall Chinese rare earth prices continue to shift downward on January 4, 2024. Notably, the prices of neodymium praseodymium oxide have dropped to around 435,000 yuan/ton, terbium oxide to around 7,200 yuan/kg, and dysprosium oxide to around 2,440,000 yuan/ton. 

This decline is attributed to the difficulty in boosting purchasing enthusiasm among downstream users and the rapid increase in market spot supply. The significant downward adjustment of the listed prices of northern rare earths this month has also contributed to lowering the market temperature.

In this situation, prices of various specifications of neodymium iron boron waste have experienced some decline. However, due to the support of production costs and the impact of the strong operation of neodymium iron boron blank prices, the decline in rare earth raw material selling prices is expected to narrow until stabilized operations, or even bottoming out and rebounding.

According to information from Chinatungsten Online, in January 2024, the listed prices of northern rare earths saw a significant month-on-month and year-on-year decrease: lanthanum oxide prices dropped to 4,100 yuan/ton, down 58.16% month-on-month and year-on-year; cerium oxide to 6,500 yuan/ton, down 33.67% month-on-month and year-on-year; neodymium praseodymium oxide to 453,300 yuan/ton, down 8.13% month-on-month and 29.48% year-on-year; dysprosium oxide to 461,600 yuan/ton, down 7.99% month-on-month and 34.95% year-on-year; metallic praseodymium neodymium to 560,000 yuan/ton, down 7.89% month-on-month and 28.84% year-on-year; and metallic neodymium to 570,000 yuan/ton, down 7.77% month-on-month and 34.26% year-on-year.
