Dysprosium Oxide Price - April 23, 2021

Rare earth market quotation in China: terbium oxide, neodymium oxide and dysprosium oxide prices kept declining in the week ended on Friday April 23, 2021. In order to avid risk of price inversion, most suppliers were rational in offers.

In the light rare earth market, the prices of praseodymium and neodymium series products have declined significantly, while the prices of other products have not changed significantly. This is mainly due to the promulgation of the "Regulations on the Management of Rare Earths" in the early stage, and the continuous increase in downstream traditional and emerging application fields. Traders’ quotations have been raised by a large margin, which has led to an increase in downstream users’ fear for high prices.

The heavy rare earth market was weak. Although supported by optimistic expectations for global economic recovery, limited exports from Myanmar and possible favorable environmental protection policies, it was still difficult to boost market demand, which in turn slowed the growth of orders.

Under the influence of the substantial increase in the output of excavators, tractors and automobiles, the industry has great hopes for the future increase in demand for rare earth permanent magnet materials. From January to March 2021, the output of excavators was 132,983, an increase of 83.2% year-on-year; during the same period, the output of large, medium and small tractors were 28,745, 97,134, and 45,000, respectively, an increase of 113.8%, 60.9%, and 45.2% year-on-year. From January to March, China's automobile production was 6.383 million vehicles, an increase of 81.7% year-on-year, of which 2.517 million vehicles
