Domestic Rare Earth Polishing Materials in Prosperous

Baotou Zhongke Yuhang polishing materials Co., Ltd. has built a production line with an annual output of 6000 tons of rare earth polishing materials, breaking the monopoly of foreign companies on the high-end market of polishing materials.

In recent years, with the rise and growth of the liquid crystal display industry, high-performance liquid crystal polishing powders have developed rapidly. Rare earth polishing materials occupy a high proportion of the rare earth consumption in industrially developed countries. The output and consumption could reflect the speed and level of a country's technological development to some extent.

Polishing refers to the use of mechanical, chemical, or electrochemical effects to reduce the surface roughness of the workpiece to obtain a bright and smooth surface. Rare earth polishing materials have been widely used in the polishing of optical glass, liquid crystal glass substrates and touch screen glass due to their uniform particle size, moderate hardness, high polishing efficiency, and environmental protection.

At present, the application of polishing powder in China has gone from less than 40 tons/year in the 1980s to more than 20,000 tons/year. Foreign consumption is mainly focused in East Asia and Southeast Asia, of which Japan is the largest consumer, with an annual volume of about 600 tons. Japan has led the global development of emerging display devices, and it is the main consumer of cerium-based glass polishing powder.

In order to change the backward status of our country's rare earth polishing powders, the 'Rare Earth Industry Development Plan (2016-2020)' was formulated. With the development of the global economy, the domestic rare earth industry has developed rapidly. However, the application of lanthanum and cerium, has not made significant progress. At present, the main application fields of lanthanum and cerium products abroad are still rested on the glass grinding industry, which can be divided into industrial grinding and civil grinding in terms of subdivision.

Industrial grinding is mainly rare earth polishing powder, and the production is mainly distributed in Japan, South Korea, France, the United States and other regions. Among them, the demand for polishing powder in Japan and South Korea is high. The production technology level of Japan and South Korea is international leading, mainly in the advanced baking process and powder classification process, so it occupies a large share in the high-end polishing powder market.

The development of rare earth polishing materials and its industrialization project came into being. The project determined the basic method of preparing high-performance cerium oxide polishing materials using rare earth carbonate as raw materials, and added appropriate auxiliary materials to improve the calcined oxides in the process.

At present, the first phase of the rare earth polishing material project has invested 120 million yuan to build an area of 40 acres, with two fully automatic production lines, and a production capacity of 6000 tons of polishing powder per year. It is estimated that the output value will exceed 180 million yuan, and the profit and tax would exceed 6 million yuan. The domestic rare earth polishing materials are springing!
