China tungsten price rose slightly in the week ended on Friday April 9, 2021 affected by increased average tungsten forecast prices from association and offers from listed company. Downstream buyers remained low buying appetite and transactions concluded limitedly.

Tungsten concentrate suppliers have strong rised mentality due to firm costs and tight supply on China’s environmental checks in major tungsten producing areas. Market price was kept about $15,238.1 per ton. The APT market was caught in wait-and-see atmosphere with smelting factories keeping low operating rate. Low-price spot goods reduced and sellers’ intended price was $258.3 per mtu. Tungsten power price stabilized at $34.9 per kilogram but trade mainly referred offers of listed tungsten companies for early April.

In terms of news, the sixth and fourth ecological and environmental protection inspection teams of the central government have carried out inspections to Hunan and Jiangxi on April 6th and 7th, respectively, for a period of one month. The checks have made local tungsten and rare earth smelting companies face the risks of reduction or shutdown of production.
