Most jewelry pieces come in ready-made sizes. Although you may have a general idea of your size, many people find that they are in between sizes: One size is too tight, but the next size up is too loose. If you buy a watch that is too big, you can usually customize it to your wrist size. You simply remove links from a metal-based watchband. You can always take it to a professional jeweler, or you can do it yourself with a few tool
.Shorten the watchband by moving the spring bar on the watch's clasp. This spring bar is in place for wearers to easily adjust the size of the watchband. Simply insert the screwdriver into the hole in the spring bar. This will allow you to gently move the spring bar along until you reach the desired location.
.Determine how many links you need to remove from the watchband if it is still too big after you shorten the spring bar. It's easier to remove multiple links at once, rather than one at a time.
.Insert the screwdriver into the hole on top of the link you would like to remove.
.Press firmly to release the link pin--the L-shaped pin that keeps the link in place. You will feel a slight give once it unlocks.
.Pull up on the link pin. It will easily slide out.
.Take out the link pin on an adjacent link. You will always need to remove at least two link pins to remove one link, because of the way in which watchbands are linked together.
.Remove the link. If you are removing multiple links, do so at this time.
.Put the watchband back together, reinserting the link pin in place.
.Use a jeweler's hammer to push the link pin back into place.
