According to data compiled by Chinatungsten Online from the General Administration of Customs, from January to August 2025, China's imports of tungsten products (excluding cemented carbide tools and tungsten halogen lamps) totaled 13,500 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 45.83% compared to the same period in 2024. The import value amounted to RMB 1.687 billion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 32.45%.

From January to August 2025, China imported:

Tungsten ores & concentrates: 11,600 tons, a year-on-year increase of 74.56%.

Ammonium paratungstate: 2,007 kg, compared to only 4 kg in the same period of 2024.

Calcium wolframate: 78.30 tons, a year-on-year increase of 29.17%.

Ammonium metatungstate: 210 kg, compared to only 1 kg in the same period of 2024.

Tungsten powders: 25.38 tons, a year-on-year increase of 48.56%.

Unwrought tungsten, including bars & rods obtained simply by sintering: 2,402 kg, a year-on-year increase of 21.93%.

Tungsten wire: 3,519 kg, a year-on-year increase of 0.77%.

Tungstic acid: 10.75 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 64.94%.

Tungsten trioxides: 13.59 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 81.27%.

Other tungsten oxides & hydroxides, nes: 40.00 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 45.21%.

Tungsten hexafluoride: 306.82 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.85%.

Sodium tungstate: 1,341.14 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 29.65%.

Carbides of tungsten: 48.11 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 21.50%.

Ferro-tungsten: 37 kg, a year-on-year decrease of 99.86%.

Bars & rods, excluding those obtained simply by sintering; profiles, plates, sheets, strips, and foils: 4,636 kg, a year-on-year decrease of 40.94%.

Additionally, from January to August 2025, China imported:

Knives and cutting blades, for machines or mechanical appliances, of metal carbides, coated or plated: 467.90 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 0.31%.

Other knives and cutting blades, for machines or mechanical appliances, of metal carbides: 330.06 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.81%.
