As a close window of the pilot, it is more demanding than other parts of the fighter. Not only have transparency, but also to prevent bird impact, but also able to block ultraviolet light, and has a high level of quasi high temperature and insulation effect, of course, the most important thing is to stealth. Thanks to China's strong industrial manufacturing strength and rich in tungsten, rare earth and other strategic resources, in recent years, rapid progress in materials and technology, self-completion of most of the J-20 manufacturing materials will go with the flow.
 
How to make the five-generation fighter cockpit glass? The main materials used in the United States are two kinds of resin material, together with metal oxide film. The first is acrylic transparent material, which has good optical properties, but the optical performance is not good impact. The second is polycarbonate, which is hard but not wearable. The United States combines two materials to make a sandwich glass, acrylic glass inside and outside two layers, polycarbonate as the intermediate layer, and finally in the plexiglass seat canopy surface, a film of indium tin oxide (ITO) film is used to cut off harmful electrons, ultraviolet and far infrared rays.
 
In addition, the Russian T50 cockpit glass is made of multilayer composite polyurethane acrylate, which serves as the base for the hatch cover, in addition, T-50 uses plasma chemical deposition to fabricate polymer hatch panels, and metal (AU) films are deposited by plasma magnetron sputtering, the film is resistant to high temperatures but not wearable. Russia has also made a new approach. It combines inorganic glass with polyurethane to greatly improve the wear resistance and reduce the cost.
