There are many types of darts. According to different shapes,there’re straight type, torpedo type, and barrel type. Besides, darts can be made from many different materials.

At the beginning, darts were made of wood, then darts were made of brass. Now darts are made of three main kinds of materials: tungsten, nickel, and silver. According to different material, darts can be divided into brass darts, nickel silver darts, and tungsten alloy darts, etc.

 

Brass dart: compared to other metal darts, such as nickel darts, silver darts, and tungsten alloy darts, copper darts should be the lightest. The weight of each copper dart is16-20 grams. Copper darts are soft darts. Copper is a relatively dense metal. It is relatively inexpensive and easy to process. However, copper is too soft that its grip would be easy to fade and wear. Copper darts are often used as indoor darts because of their lower cost.

 

 

Nickel-silver dart: nickel-silver is an imitation silver alloy with no silver. It is an alloy of nickel with copper and zinc. It’s also a relatively dense alloy, relatively cheap and easy to process. However, nickel-silver is harder, so it’s more durable. Nickel-silver darts are popular among budget limited beginners.

 

Tungsten alloy dart: tungsten alloy dart barrel, the main part of a dart, is made of tungsten alloy dart shaft, which has heavy weight, small size, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, etc. It’s the most commonly used in professional darts game. There are two common types: darts with tungsten content of 80% and 90%. These two types are alloys with nickel, also known as nickel-tungsten darts. Tungsten alloy has heavy weight, high density and good aerodynamic effect. Therefore, tungsten alloy darts has good flight stability and durability. Darts of the same weight, tungsten alloy darts are much smaller in size than other darts, which can increase the possibility of throwing darts into the same partition.
