Tungsten Import and Export in China

Tungsten is a scarcity strategic resource, irreplaceable and non-renewable. World tungsten import and export volume and scale have been stable for a long time. 

The USA, Japan and European countries are the main areas for tungsten deep processing and consuming. China is the largest producer and consumer of tungsten, supply 82% of tungsten to the world with its 58% reserve.

China is the main tungsten exporter in the world. In the past, due to backward of tungsten development, low standard in intelligence and automation of equipment, the main exported products are APT, tungsten trioxide, ferro tungsten, tungsten powder, tungsten carbide powder and low-end tungsten carbide products. With the adjustment of exporting structure these years, export volume of intermediate products are decreasing. Meanwhile, we also impose great scientific research and technical investment to enhance quality of tungsten carbide products to high-end. We are narrowing our gap with developed countries and competitiveness is increasing.

Tungsten as an important non-renewable scarce strategic resource is attached with great importance in every country. European countries and USA have founded tungsten strategic resource. We also increase import volume of tungsten year by year, tungsten concentrate is the mainly imported product which originates from Russia, Rwanda, Mongolia, Maynmar and North Korea. Apart from protecting strategic resource and environment, tungsten concentrate price is also an important reason. Our gap with developed countries in tungsten carbide area determines we need to import high property and high precision tungsten carbide products abroad. These tungsten products has high added value, we should work toward it with effort.

Global economic recovery is still slow, many developed countries is facing sluggish economic growth, emerging industries and developing economic entity have disparity. China will continue control production capacity, improve industrial structure and distribution, make tungsten price maintain stable while seek upward and sustainable development of resource.
