Yellow Tungsten Oxide Applied for Photocatalytic Coating

Yellow tungsten oxide, or tungsten trioxide (WO3), may be widely applied for producing photocatalytic coating. Tungsten trioxide has band gap between 2.4-28eV, and has good absorption of visible light. Also, it is very stable in aqueous solution. So, it is regarded as a potential photocatalytic material for visible light response. Therefore, WO3 photocatalyst with excellent visible light photocatalytic performance may be used to produce photocatalytic coating.

In recent years, with the continuous improvement of living standards, people have higher requirements for the beauty and comfort of indoor and outdoor environments, but various decoration materials and furniture used for indoor decoration have become the main sources of pollution. For example, coatings, paints, decorations and daily necessities used in interior decoration will release volatile organic compounds. In this regard, the researchers combined yellow tungsten oxide visible light photocatalyst with coating to prepare a photocatalytic coating for the degradation of formaldehyde gas, so as to fully utilize the photocatalytic effect of sunlight and fluorescent lamps to degrade formaldehyde, which has certain practical value.
