As a lubricant, WS2 has a friction coefficient of 0.01-0.15 and a compressive strength of up to 2100MPa. And it has the advantages of low friction coefficient, acid and alkali resistance, wide use temperature, good load resistance, and long lubrication life. Also it is non-toxic. Moreover, WS2 has a very similar layer structure to graphite and MoS2, while it has a thicker layer and a more stable molecular structure. Compared with graphite, WS2 is more lubricated under vacuum conditions; compared with MoS2, WS2 has good lubricating performance in wet environments.
