Tungsten Shield Manufacturing Strategy

Tungsten has an atomic number of 74 and a density of 19.35g/cm³. It has good radiation shielding properties and does not generate secondary electron radiation. It is ideal for nuclear radiation shielding materials. The tungsten shield preparation are as follows:

(1) The raw materials are weighed according to the formula and the pellets in the rubber additives such as anti-aging agents and vulcanization accelerators that break into powder.

The main materials of tungsten shield are: Rubber, tungsten powder, tungsten fiber, barite powder, rare earth oxide powder, compatibilizer, activator, plasticizer, antiaging agent, antiscorching agent, vulcanizing agent, vulcanizing agent.

(2) Mixed filler preparation: fillers such as tungsten powder, tungsten fiber, barite powder, and rare earth oxide powder are vacuum dried in a vacuum drying oven and mixed in a vacuum high-speed mixer machine to obtain a mixed filler.

(3) Rubber material mixing: In the mixer, rubber, activator, anti-aging agent, anti-scorching agent, mixed filler, plasticizer, compatilizer, vulcanization accelerator, vulcanizing agent are added successively. After the mixing is uniform, the open mill is opened and rolled, and parked next.

(4) Extruded calendar: The parked strips were put into a pin-type cold-feed extruder, extruded through a hydraulic wide-width head, and calendered into sheets. After being cooled by cutting, the sheets were rewinded by paper or cloth as a pad.

(5) Vulcanization forming: The double-sided release paper is guided, the rolled sheet is introduced into a vulcanizing press for vulcanization, and the rolled-up product is exported.

The shield composite material does not contain lead, it has good radiation shielding properties, physical and mechanical properties. It is environmentally friendly, flexible and easy to process, can be applied to the nuclear industry, nuclear medicine, precision instruments, electronic machinery, nuclear waste and nuclear crisis pollutants ray-shielding areas such as storage containers.
