In the field of hard alloys, coarse-grained carbides have a series of advantages such as less structural defects, high micro-hardness and low micro strain. It is widely used in rock drilling tools, oil drilling tools, stamping dies, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant parts, high temperature and high pressure endurance, metal pressure processing tools, rolling rings for steel rolling, and hard surface materials.
In order to overcome the shortcomings of the current coarse grained cemented carbide production, some scholars have recently proposed a new method for preparing coarse-grained cemented carbide. The brief process is as follows:
(1) Take 93.18wt% coarse-grained tungsten carbide powder WC, 6% cobalt powder, 0.12% radium powder, 0.2% tantalum powder, 0.1% vanadium carbide, 0.1% chromium carbide, 0.1% tantalum carbide, 0.1% titanium carbide, 0.1 % nickel powder fully mixed in alcohol medium. The mixture was wet-milled in a ball mill for 25 hours. Then the wet mixture is transferred to a double cone mixer for alcohol recycle.
(2) Drying and after cooling, press molding, add 30% paraffin waxing agent during continuous stirring for 3 hours, press molding again.
(3) The material is vacuum sintered, and the temperature is slowly raised during the sintering process, and then the sintering temperature is maintained at 1400-1600° C. The temperature holding time is 2 hours, after the holding time, the temperature is maintained at 1400-1600°C, and the high temperature is simultaneously performed. Then through high-pressure sintering, holding pressure for 3 hours, cooling and sintering after sintering to obtain the coarse-grained cemented carbide.
The coarse-grained hard alloy produced by the above method has the advantages of thermal shock resistance, resistance to thermoplastic deformation, high temperature resistance, it is more suitable for working in a high temperature environment.
