The Raiders of Tungsten Tailings Recycling Are Used in the Plastic Packing

Tungsten tailings are the solid wastes produced after the classification of tungsten ore. At present the comprehensive utilization mainly includes the recovery of useful metals and non-metallic ores, but the amount of metal recovery is small and a large amount of tailings are remaining. For the production of glass-ceramic, ceramic, brick and hollow brick, the amount of usage is limited and the cost is high. The application efficiency is also limited.

Plastic products are widely used in building-materials industry. With the advantages of light weight, low cost and easily to use and so on, the use of mineral for plastic packing can greatly reduce the cost of plastic products and have certain enhancement effect. The application of tungsten tailings modification used as plastic packing. By ultrafine grading and surfactant modification of tungsten tailings, a new type of plastic packing is developed to effectively improve the strength and wear resistance of plastic products and reduce the cost of plastic production, so as to find a higher value-added utilization of tungsten tailings which is to make extensive use of tungsten tailings, reduce tungsten tailings solid waste on the environment pollution.

The method for modifying tungsten tailings are as follows:

1. After the tungsten tailings are dried by ultrafine processing of ball-milling to obtain a fineness of - 15 microns particles which accounted for more than 90% of the tungsten tailings powder.

2. The resulting powder in a heated mixing-equipment preheated to disperse, add 2% aluminates for dry modification. The modification time is 15 minutes, the modification temperature is 120 ℃ and the activation index of tungsten tailings is of 67% after modified.

3. The modified tungsten tailings powder added to the polyvinyl chloride or chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, and the mass ratio of modified tungsten tailings and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) is from 0.3 to 1: 1. The mixed powder is added to the mixer for 30 minutes, the modified tungsten tailings accounts for 60% of the PVC resin. The mixed powder is added into a twin-screw extruder, and extruded to cool for cutting to obtain the finished product of PVC plastic pipe.

The above method has the advantages of simple process, extensive use of tungsten tailings for producing plastic filler. Because tungsten tailings contain a large amount of garnet and high hardness, which can effectively improve the wear resistance and quality of plastic products which can greatly enhance the comprehensive utilization of value of tungsten tailings, turning waste into treasure, with good economic and environmental effect.
