On the first trading day after the Chinese New Year, tungsten prices remained stable.

On Feb. 4, 2025, the announcement by two government departments regarding export controls on tungsten, molybdenum, and related materials attracted widespread attention both within and outside the industry. Due to the holiday, the domestic market is still in the process of reacting and adjusting strategies.

Meanwhile, in the international market, concerns over tungsten supply chains and the cost pressures caused by rising domestic raw material prices before the holiday have led to a noticeable increase in ferro-tungsten and APT prices.

Currently, domestic tungsten market quotations remain stable. However, with tightening tungsten ore supply and the impact of export control policies, market opinions on price trends have become increasingly divided, limiting transactions as participants await early-month guidance prices from institutions and major tungsten enterprises.

The price of 65% black tungsten concentrate is reported at $20,563.4/ton, with mining operations remaining limited and resource availability still tight. Ammonium paratungstate (APT) is priced at $340.6/mtu, tungsten powder at $45.1/kg, and tungsten carbide powder at $44.4/kg. The increasing tension in export markets has heightened concerns over demand, with market participants closely watching the industry's resource integration dynamics.

Ferro-tungsten is priced at $30,704.2/ton, as stakeholders monitor the supply-demand standoff within the industry and the increasingly complex international landscape. Meanwhile, cobalt powder is priced at $23.5/kg, with ample supply and weak consumption continuing to dampen industry confidence.
