China Rare Earth Prices - September 22, 2023

This week, China rare earth prices have shown an overall pattern of stability followed by a slight decline. The market sentiment has been somewhat stagnant due to the interweaving of bullish and bearish factors, resulting in subdued trading activity and limited transactions.

At the beginning of the week, despite moderate demand from downstream users, suppliers maintained relatively firm pricing, supported by production costs and limited imports of some rare earth raw materials in China. However, towards the end of the week, some holders slightly lowered their prices in order to secure more orders.

According to information from China Tungsten Online, this week, the price of neodymium oxide has decreased by approximately 4,000 CNY per ton compared to the previous week, a decrease of 0.76%. The price of dysprosium oxide has increased by approximately 40,000 CNY per ton, a decrease of 1.53%. The prices of praseodymium metal, terbium oxide, 55N neodymium iron boron ingots, and neodymium iron boron ingot scrap (praseodymium) have remained stable compared to the previous week.

In terms of news, data from the National Energy Administration shows that as of the end of August, China's cumulative installed power generation capacity is approximately 2.76 billion kilowatts, an increase of 11.9% year-on-year. Wind power installed capacity is approximately 400 million kilowatts, an increase of 14.8% year-on-year. From January to August 2023, the average utilization hours of power generation equipment in China cumulatively reached 2,423 hours, a decrease of 76 hours year-on-year.
