China Rare Earth Price - August 18, 2023

China rare earth price has generally consolidated within a narrow range in the week ended on Friday August 18, 2023. Under the influence of various uncertainties, the trends in light and heavy rare earth raw materials, as well as rare earth permanent magnetic materials, have shown slight differences.

Specifically, this week, prices for PrNd experienced an initial drop followed by a rise, DyTb prices saw a slight increase, and NdFeB ingots and their scrap prices remained stable.

According to information from China Tungsten Online, this week's prices are as follows: PrNd oxide decreased by approximately CNY 1,000 per ton compared to the previous week, a decrease of 0.21%; Tb oxide increased by approximately CNY 80 per kilogram, an increase of 1.11%; Dy oxide increased by approximately CNY 10,000 per ton, an increase of 0.43%; DyFe alloy increased by approximately CNY 10,000 per ton, an increase of 0.45%; PrNd metal, Gd oxide, 55N NdFeB ingots, and their scrap (PrNd) prices remained unchanged compared to the previous week.

In terms of supply, factors such as extreme weather conditions, unfavorable market conditions, and high energy prices have led some rare earth manufacturers to start maintenance work earlier, resulting in reduced production. In terms of demand, due to the low operating rates of magnet materials companies, the strong reluctance of traders to buy when prices are falling, and the impact of less-than-ideal performance of some rare earth listed companies in the first half of the year, market demand remains limited.
