China rare earth price showed mixed ups and downs in the week ended on Friday, August 4, 2023. Under the influence of many uncertain factors, the price of praseodymium and neodymium moved up slightly, while the price of dysprosium, terbium and gadolinium was stable and weakened, and the market turnover was lower than expected.
According to Chinatungsten Online, the price of praseodymium and neodymium oxide rose by about 9,000 yuan/ton, or 1.94%, compared with last week; The price of terbium oxide decreased by about 70 yuan/kg, or 0.94%, from last week; the price of dysprosium oxide remained the same as last week; the price of dysprosium-iron alloy rose by about 80,000 yuan/ton, or 3.85% from last week; The price of NdFeB scrap (NdPr) remained unchanged from last week.
The main factors affecting the rare earth market in the near future are: first, the bad weather and the shortage of electricity in some areas have caused some rare earth manufacturers to reduce production or stop production to varying degrees; The third is that it is currently in the off-season of traditional consumption, and the demand of magnetic material companies and polishing powder companies is basically weak; the fourth is the import and export volume of rare earths in my country.
In terms of news: According to news from the China Metal Society, Dongxing Magnetic Materials’ low-heavy rare earth magnetic material expansion project located in Lingang Industrial Park, Fushan District has been under construction for six months, and is expected to be fully completed by the end of the year. After the project is put into production, 5,000 tons of magnet production capacity will be added on the basis of the existing production capacity.
