China’s Xiamen Tungsten Declined APT Bid Price for the First Half of September

Analysis of latest tungsten market from Chinatungsten Online

The ammonium paratungstate (APT) and tungsten powder prices remained weak adjustment in the Chinese market due in part to low trading activity of market participants.

The multi-point spread of the epidemic in China will have a certain impact on the production and logistics of enterprises. With the implementation of Covid-19 response and consumption support measures, it is expected that the impact of this situation will gradually decrease in the fourth quarter, but the external economic challenges in the market are still severe. The European energy crisis caused by the epidemic and geopolitical risks has not yet eased, and the trend of monetary tightening has accelerated under the pressure of global inflation, which affects the situation on the consumer side.

China’s Xiamen Tungsten quoted APT bid price at $306.0/mtu, down $1.7/mtu compared with the first half of September. The weakness in the new guide prices reflects the sluggish demand in the market. But supported by the cost and rigid demand, manufacturers will not cut their profits sharply.

Macroscopically, China's economy continued its recovery and development trend in August. From January to August, the country's industrial power generation above designated size reached 5.6 trillion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%; the electricity consumption of the whole society increased by 4.4% year-on-year. In August, the national industrial power generation above designated size reached 824.8 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%, and the growth rate was 5.4 percentage points higher than that of the previous month; the electricity consumption of the whole society increased by 10.7% year-on-year.
