Rare Earth Market - August 28, 2025

Rare earth market update on August 28, 2025

The domestic rare earth market is exhibiting a mixed pattern of rises and falls, with the price of praseodymium oxide increasing by approximately 15,000 yuan per ton, praseodymium-neodymium oxide decreasing by about 2,000 yuan per ton, gadolinium oxide decreasing by approximately 3,000 yuan per ton, and dysprosium oxide increasing by around 10,000 yuan per ton.

From the supply side, the rare earth market faces multiple constraints, making it difficult to increase spot supply volumes. On one hand, frequent high-temperature rainfall combined with increasingly stringent environmental policies has slowed the capacity release rate for most rare earth manufacturers. On the other hand, overseas rare earth supply is trending toward tightness, with prices remaining high, a situation that is unfavorable for China to expand the import scale of rare earth products, further limiting supplementary channels for market spot supply.

From the demand side, in the short term, downstream user demand is primarily driven by rigid procurement due to two factors: first, current rare earth prices remain relatively high, and second, market liquidity is relatively tight. In the long term, with the rapid development of industries such as robotics, new energy vehicles, and smart home appliances, the future demand for rare earths is expected to increase.

In terms of news, Northern Rare Earth achieved revenue of 18.866 billion yuan in the first half of 2025, increased by 45.24% year-on-year; net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company was 931 million yuan, increased by 1,951.52% year-on-year; net profit after deducting non-recurring gains and losses was 897 million yuan, increased by 5,644.93% year-on-year; net cash flow from operating activities was 925 million yuan, increased by 1,251.81% year-on-year; basic earnings per share were 0.2576 yuan, increased by 1,951.52% year-on-year; total assets at the end of the reporting period were 47.318 billion yuan, increased by 4.27% year-on-year; and net assets attributable to shareholders of the listed company were 23.265 billion yuan, increased by 3.71% year-on-year.
