Searchlight Resources Inc. announced the commencement of fieldwork on rare earth elements (REEs) and uranium (U) targets on Kulyk Lake Exploration Project, located approximately 165 kilometers north of La Ronge, Saskatchewan, and 65 kilometers south of the Key Lake property.
On June 13, Searchlight received a Crown Resource Land Work Authorization from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment and on June 21 began initial fieldwork on the Kulyk Lake Rare Earth Project. This work is focused on radiometric results completed in September 2021, which outline significant new thorium and uranium targets.
Stephen Wallace, the CEO of Searchlight Resources, said, "The focus of this exploration phase will be on field investigations of two large radiological targets, one for thorium and one for U."
Planned fieldwork will focus on prospecting and grid sampling of a previously unknown U target and a 3 km long thorium anomaly outlined by radiometric surveys. Monazite is the primary mineral known to show REEs in Kulyk Lake, and Searchlight is using thorium as a prospector for REEs in the mineral monazite.
Planned fieldwork will focus on exploration and grid sampling of a previously unknown U target and a 3 km long thorium anomaly outlined by radiometric surveys. The searchlight will use thorium as a pathfinder for REEs in the mineral monazite, the primary mineral known to show REEs in Kulyk Lake.
In addition, the geological team will collect monazite samples from previous collections at Kulyk Lake for detailed chemical analysis, lithological studies, and preliminary metallurgical testing.
The uranium results from the 2021 radiometric survey identified a significant, previously undiscovered U target and pinpointed known U occurrences, including the Eldorado mine, which assayed 0.785% U3O8. The newly identified anomalous U zone has multiple high values, including the highest U value from this survey. in June 2022, the exploration program for the area is to conduct an initial exploration of the high-value zone followed by conducting a grid scintillation survey and rock sampling.
Stephen Wallace is Searchlight's Qualified Person within the meaning of National Instrument 43-101 and has reviewed and approved the technical information contained in the news release.
Searchlight Resources Inc. is a Canadian mineral exploration and development company focused on projects in Saskatchewan, Canada (a province ranked by the Fraser Institute as a top location for mining investment in Canada).
