Midland Exploration Inc. announced the commencement of a significant exploration program in the James Bay area to define the source of rocks with gold-silver (Au-Ag) and gold-silver-copper-molybdenum deposit (Au-Ag-Cu-Mo deposit) discovered in the Chisaayuu Block of the Mythril Regional project during the summer of 2021.
Two new high-grade gold-bearing boulders grading 10.25 g/t Au, 8.0 g/t Ag; and 7.99 g/t Au, 166 g/t Ag, 0.4% Cu, 0.07% Mo in grab samples were previously discovered during prospecting on the Chisaayuu Block of the 2021 Mythril District Project.
Overall rock analysis indicates the presence of two types of felsic intrusions at Chisaayuu: Type I consists of orthoclase, while Type II consists mainly of quartz amphibolite. In the vicinity of the gold-bearing boulders discovered in 2021, some boulders are Type I (including polymetallic boulders grading 7.99 g/t Au), and some boulders are Type II (including boulders grading 10 g/t Au, boulders grading 0.13% Mo, and boulders grading 0.62 g/t Au and 0.5% Zn).
This suggests the presence of two different types of feldspathic intrusive rocks, both of which are mineralized. This is a very interesting feature from a mineralization point of view and suggests a widespread system. It is also noteworthy that certain mineralized samples exhibit very strong potassic alteration, i.e. boulders grading 7.99 g/t Au.
Rock samples on the project are assayed for gold by standard 30-gram fire-assaying with inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy or gravimetric finish at ALS Minerals laboratories in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Analytical results from the Au-Ag-Cu-Mo deposit rock samples collected also indicate that the type of sulfide varies from area to area. In fact, the pattern of metal zonation characterized by the Cu-Mo assemblage is quite different from that of the Au-Zn-Cu-Pb-Mo assemblage. This type of zonation is reminiscent of that observed at Mythril, which is another argument for the existence of a widespread system.
This new program will last approximately one month and will be conducted in two phases from June 8 to July 10, 2022. A follow-up event is also planned for September 2022.
Grab samples are selective and the values reported do not necessarily represent mineralized zones. Based on the information currently available, the true thickness of the reported intervals cannot be determined; therefore the intervals are reported as core lengths.
Midland Exploration Inc. is a dynamic mineral exploration company focused on the discovery of gold, base, polymetallic, and rare metal deposits in Quebec, one of Canada's most prolific mining provinces. The company has been listed on the TSX Venture Exchange since 2007 as MD.
