Caotougang Copper-Tungsten Polymetallic Deposit in Wuning County

The Jiangxi Provincial Mineral Resources Guarantee Service Center organized relevant experts to carry out the ‘Pre-inspection of Caotougang Copper-Tungsten Polymetallic Deposit in Wuning County, Jiangxi Province’ and the ‘Pre-investigation of Copper and Tungsten Polymetallic Deposits’. A total of two fund projects in the ‘General Survey of Limestone Mines for Facing in Huajiashan, Ningxian County’ have undergone field acceptance.

It is agreed that the original data of the two projects are complete, the quality management system is operating normally, and the project tasks have been completed. The pre-investigation of the Caotougang copper-tungsten polymetallic deposit in Wuning County is a provincial geological exploration fund project issued by the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Natural Resources in 2019 (project number: 20180002) with a budget of 5.83 million yuan and a field work cycle of 1 year.

Due to the impact of the epidemic, the project was officially launched in March 2020. The project has completed various physical workloads of the design approval, including 1:10000 geological survey of 6.72 square kilometers, 1:10000 soil geochemical survey of 6.72 square kilometers, trench survey of 2500 cubic meters, more than 3,500 meters of drilling, and more than 3,200 pieces of analysis samples.

The project has delineated three soil geochemical prospecting combined anomaly areas. Through trench exploration, 14 new tungsten ore bodies have been discovered. The apparent thickness of the ore bodies is 3~7.5m, and the average grade of WO3 segment is 0.08~0.37%.

The project initially identified the basic characteristics of copper-tungsten ore bodies and ore quality characteristics, delineated multiple sections of tungsten (copper) ore bodies, and preliminarily estimated the amount of tungsten and associated mineral resources in the area, which is expected to be a large-scale tungsten deposit. It achieved the expected goal and achieved good prospecting results.

The General Survey of Limestone Mines is a provincial geological exploration fund project (project number: 20190020) issued by the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Natural Resources in 2019. The budget is 1.35 million yuan and the field work cycle is 1 year. The project has completed various physical workloads for the design approval, and has preliminarily identified the geological characteristics of the stratum, structure, and limestone ore bodies used for facing within the mining area.

The copper-tungsten polymetallic deposit project in Wuning County has circled a limestone ore body for veneer in the lower Triassic, with a strike length of about 2200 meters, a tendency to extend 20-120 meters, and a thickness of 47.22-95.84 meters. And the interior surface of the area is estimated to be in a good condition. The use of limestone mineral resources is expected to reach the scale of medium-sized deposits.
