Gansu Rare Earth Production Capacity Ranks Top3 in China

China Northern Rare Earth (Group) High-Tech Co., Ltd, (North Rare Earth) announced that after two years’ reorganization, the Gansu Rare Earth Group Co., LTD. (Gansu Rare Earth) has achieved high-quality development and its production capacity is among the top 3 in China.

According to official sources, due to geographical restrictions, the Gansu Rare Earth Group has always been a typical "island-type" enterprise in the rare earth industry. In May 2018, with the strong support and guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China and the party committees and governments of Gansu and Mongolia, Northern Rare Earth officially completed the reorganization of Gansu Rare Earth, holding 48.26% of the shares, and became the largest shareholder and controlling shareholder of the company.

As of the end of September 2020, Gansu's Rare Earth production capacity ranks among the top three in China, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons of rare earth processing and separation; an annual production capacity of 5,000 tons of rare earth metals, an annual production capacity of 4,000 tons of rare earth abrasive materials, and an annual production capacity of rare earth hydrogen storage materials. The production capacity is 1,000 tons, the annual production capacity of rare earth magnetic materials is 1,500 tons, and the annual production capacity of chlor-alkali is 20,000 tons.

In addition, Gansu Rare Earth has strengthened its industrial cooperation mechanism with Beijing Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals, Lanzhou University, Nanchang University, Lanzhou University of Technology to carry out research on rare earth green smelting upgrading technology and long afterglow luminescent material technology. In 2018, Gansu Rare Earth was listed as one of the first batch of backbone enterprises supporting strategic emerging industries in Gansu Province.
