China Terbium Oxide Price - Aug. 13, 2020

Rare earth market quotation in China: the praseodymium oxide, neodymium oxide and terbium oxide prices are in the upward trend thanks to active trading activity and good expectation for the market outlook.

Firstly, with the continuous development of the new energy industry, the demand of downstream magnetic materials companies has increased and the enthusiasm for consumption is higher, which is the source of motivation to support the firm quotations of raw materials manufacturers. Secondly, with the shortening of the implementation time of the national reserve of light and heavy rare earths, most companies are more willing to hoard stocks, which in turn encourage holders to reluctantly sell and hope to increase offers. Thirdly, due to factors such as high temperature and flood seasons and limited imports, the spot supply of mainstream products is relatively tight, making it difficult to find low-priced sources in the market.

Recently, the General Administration of Customs released the "National Export Key Commodities Quantity and Value Table in July 2020". In the field of rare earths: China's rare earth exports in July 2020 were 1,620.3 tons, a sharp drop of 69.1% compared to July 2019 (5243.4 tons), and a decrease of approximately 32.7% from the 2,893 tons in June; the amount of China's rare earth exports from January to July 2020 decreased by 5739.8 tons to 22735.8 tons from the same period in 2019, a drop of 20.2%; from January to July 2020, the amount of China's rare earth exports was 1.48 billion yuan.
