Tungsten Concentrate Price in China Is Stable Amid Weak Demand

The tungsten concentrate price in China was unchanged for a third week in a row on Tuesday June 17, buoyed by tightened supply of the material, while downstream ammonium paratungstate (APT) prices dipped against a backdrop of weak demand.

Supply of tungsten concentrate in China’s domestic market remains tight; major producers are said to be prioritizing supply to their own subsidiary refineries downstream, while many small and medium-sized producers continue to either withhold from offering in the market or have suspended operations because prices are currently below their production costs, according to market participants.

Concentrate producers are willing to push up the price further, but the sluggish downstream APT market is putting a cap on the price rise. The concentrate price is expected to be stable for a while.
