Rare Earth Glass Coating for Thermal Insulation and Sun Protection

Rare earth owns good optical, electrical, thermal, and magnetic performance, making it be a popular glass coating material. BRIRE Rare Earth Research Institute & EASYTO (China) Adiabatic have been jointly dedicated to the research for ten years and invented the advanced adiabatic glass coating material recently.

The rare earth glass coating is adopted by the principle of stealth fighter wave-absorbing coating. It changes the reflection mechanism of traditional heat insulation glass to the absorption mechanism, which effectively screens the solar spectrum. The radiant heat energy is converted into physical heat energy and is taken away by a large amount of air convection. The coating material plays a vital role in thermal insulation, heat insulation, and sun protection.

Per the statistics, 30% to 50% of building energy consumption lost through the glass. The EASYTO coated thermal rare earth coating can form a resonance effect on the glass surface, cutting off the energy consumption window, while saving huge energy. It does not produce secondary light pollution, as well as solving the issues in a traditional glass.

The emergence of thermal insulation rare earth glass (referred to as RE glass) coating products has improved the thermal insulation, sun protection, and energy-saving indicators of traditional glass insulation products (Low-e glass and solar film on glass surface) by several orders of magnitude.

The coating does not block the passage of visible light (400-760nm) at the time of heat insulation. As photosynthesis mainly depends on visible light, the heat insulation coating has almost no effect on the flowers and plants in the sunroom.

In addition to the core thermal insulation component, the glass coating has 7-9H close to the hardness of the glass itself. It is scratch-resistant and does not need to worry about daily cleaning. At the same time, a certain number of nano-factor self-cleaning ingredients have been added to different product series, which can achieve the effect of self-cleaning and reduce the frequency of glass cleaning. What's more, the melting point of the metals is as high as 2000℃ or more, and they can withstand the weather for 20-30 years.

Aside from rare earth used as a glass coating, other important uses of rare-earth elements are applicable to the production of high-performance magnets, alloys, glasses, and electronics. Ce and La are important as catalysts and are used for petroleum refining and as diesel additives. Nd is important in magnet production in traditional and low-carbon technologies. Rare-earth elements in this category are used in the electric motors of hybrid and electric vehicles, generators in wind turbines, hard disc drives, portable electronics, microphones, and speakers.
