The first batch of the latest tungsten alloy armor piercing bullets equipped T-90M tanks came into service at the Russian Army in April, according to the Russian Satellite News Agency reported on April 13.
Lieutenant General Sergey Kisel, Commander of the First Tank Group Army of the Western Russian Military Region, said on April 13: "The first deliveries of the modernized T-90M tanks to the guard's tank army of the Western Military District, deployed in five regions of Russia, began in April."
The T-90M is the latest version of the Russian-made T-90 tank and is called the "Magic Revised" T-90 tank. Besides, the ability to exchange data in real-time with other vehicles has become one of the main features of the upgraded tank. The T-90M armor is equipped with a special coating that protects against slipping, similar to that used on the latest T-14 Armata.
Compared with the ordinary version of the T-90 tank, the T-90M tank is replaced with a new type of explosive reaction armor, and a chain armor is added below the turret, which can further enhance the attack on RPG rockets and other weapons. In addition to the obvious upgrades outside the car, the electronic equipment in the T-90M tank car has also been greatly upgraded, and the informationalized combat capabilities have been further enhanced.
The T-90M tank retained the laser detection device and smoke bomb launch module of the original "curtain" active defense system, and the original active jammer was removed.
In terms of firepower configuration, the T-90M tank is replaced with the 2A82-1M tank artillery of the T-14 Armata, which can launch a new type of tungsten alloy armor piercing bullets, a sub-caliber shellless wing stabilized armor piercing projectile and a 9M119M gun-launched missile.
At present, multiple Russian T-90M tanks capable of launching new tungsten alloy armor-piercing bullets have been transported to training ground near Moscow to participate in the rehearsal of the military parade, which will be officially announced at the Red Square Victory Day military parade on May 9 Debut.
