Tungsten Price in China Declined on Reduced Demand

Analysis of latest tungsten market from Chinatungsten Online

The tungsten price in China was in the downward trend in the week ended on Friday March 27, 2020 because the continued spread of coronavirus worldwide has led to reduced demand from other countries. Domestic market participants remained cautious sentiment and also held negative view on the market in April.

In the tungsten concentrate market, the supply was increased due to effective control of coronavirus in China, but the terminal side continued to be weak, resulting in rare transactions concluded. The raw material prices declined and mining enterprises had to cut output to maintain current prices.

Many of the Chinese tungsten concentrate and ammonium paratungstate (APT) producers were either unable to operate or were run at very low operational levels in February and most of March due to coronavirus. China produces some 80% of the global demand for tungsten-based raw materials.
