Vietnam Formulates Exploration and Mining Plans for Tungsten, Rare Earth and Other Minerals from 2021-2030 to 2050

Vietnam formulates 2021-2030 to 2050 stage plan of tungsten, rare earth, and other minerals for exploration, mining, processing, and usage. Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister has issued approval for Decision No. 295 of 2021-2030 to 2050 stage vision for the formulation in the exploration, mining, processing and use of various minerals.

The planned are facing to various minerals, dividing into lead-zinc ore groups; chromite, manganese ore, chromite group; gemstone, rare earth ore group; mineral water, natural warm water group; tin, tungsten, antimony group; copper, nickel, molybdenum group; industrial mineral group, etc.

The plan must guarantee the principle of conforming to the current development perspective. At the same time, mineral areas should not include the related mineral restricted areas or temporarily prohibited areas approved by the government prime minister or the local governments of Vietnam.

Besides, according to the reserves of various mineral resources, the explorer should update the reserves of various mineral resources when planning, and feedback the status of mineral mines that have been granted mineral resource exploration and mining licenses, as well as the information of mineral processing projects that are being or will be invested.

Analyze and evaluate the achievements, problems, and reasons during the planning period, and forecast the development prospects and needs at the same time. Evaluate the competitive advantages of processed minerals and study the formulation of at least three growth scenarios for each mineral type to analyze and select the scenario plan with the highest feasibility and efficiency and taking into account the impact of the economic situation.

To verify and adjust the minerals approved by the Prime Minister of the government for the prospects to 2025 and the plans for mineral exploration, mining, processing and use to 2035, making them comply with the provisions of the planning law and include them in the 2021-2030 stage. Looking forward to the exploration, mining, processing and use planning of various minerals in 2050 to ensure their consistency.

Meanwhile, the implementation plan should be proposed for each (each group) of minerals, which is in line with the product supply and demand at each stage of the plan, ensuring the inheritance and efficiency of mineral exploration, mining, and use projects to be carried out earlier.

The plan must cover relevant content specified in the planning law, such as collecting and processing relevant information and data to serve the plan formulation work, and analyzing and evaluating the current status of mineral mining, processing and use within the plan, and planning the scope before the Vietnam's 2019 implementation evaluation for tungsten and rare earth and other minerals within the region.
