Tungsten wire is mainly used as an efficient and stable heating element in glass bending process, and is widely used due to its unique high temperature performance and durability.
I. Application Characteristics of Tungsten Wire in Glass Bending Process
1. High Temperature Heating:
Tungsten wire has an extremely high melting point (about 3422°C) and can withstand the ultra-high temperature required for glass bending (usually between 600-1000°C, depending on the type of glass). Tungsten wire can be used as a resistive heating element to generate high temperature by powering on, heating the glass to the softening point so that it can be bent and formed.
2. Uniform Heating:
Tungsten wire can achieve uniform heat distribution through specific arrangements (such as spiral or mesh), ensuring that the glass is heated uniformly and avoiding local overheating or uneven deformation. In the hot bending furnace, tungsten wire is usually embedded or arranged in the heating area to accurately control the temperature field.
3. Corrosion Resistance and Stability:
Tungsten wire has good chemical stability at high temperatures and is not easy to react with glass or oxygen in the air (especially under the protection of inert gas), which prolongs its service life. In addition, compared with other metals, tungsten wire deforms less in high temperature environments and can maintain structural stability.
II. Application Scenarios of Tungsten Wire in Glass Hot Bending Process
1. Architectural and Decorative Glass: used to produce curved glass curtain walls, decorative glass products, etc.
2. Automobile Glass: To manufacture automobile windshields or curved side windows, the hot bending shape needs to be precisely controlled.
3. Electronic Products: such as mobile phone screens and glass cover plates of curved display screens, tungsten wire heating ensures high-precision molding.
4. Optical Components: Production of lenses, lenses and other glass products that require complex curvatures.
III. Precautions for the Application of Tungsten Wire in Glass Hot Bending Process
1. Atmosphere control: Tungsten wire is easily oxidized at high temperatures, so it is often used in a vacuum or inert gas (such as nitrogen, argon) environment to prevent oxidation loss.
2. Temperature control: It needs to be matched with an accurate temperature control system (such as infrared temperature measurement or thermocouple) to ensure that the glass reaches the softening point but does not melt.
3. Mold matching: After the tungsten wire is heated, the glass needs to be shaped by the mold. The heating efficiency of the tungsten wire directly affects the compatibility of the mold and the glass.
