Internship in Chinatungsten

It has been one month since I started my internship in Chinatungsten Online, Xiamen. It is a great pleasure to gain this experience during my last summer holiday. I started my one-month internship in Chinatungsten Online from July 5th until August 10th.

I think the experience at company is a good preview of my career and future. I have learned some things about my weaknesses & strengths. And it somehow corrects my direction towards the future career.

Reflecting back to my first day at company, it was one of the most memorable days of my time at work. I was informed to have an interview the day before from Mr. Hanns, who is the CEO of the company. I remembered clearly that I was asked by Mr. Hanns to answer his question in English. Perhaps I was too shy to speak English between another Chinese, or my oral. I was completely stunned. That was truly embarrassed. And it reminds me that it is necessary to enhance my oral English. Then I was given half an hour to answer a paper to test my level of English.  There are two types of questions: Chinese-English translation & English-Chinese translation. At that night, I was happy to receive an email fromMr.Hannsthat I was accepted to start a one-month internship at Chinatungsten Online. And there a great summer experience started.

Chinatungsten Online is a lovely company located at the Xiamen software park, whose major businessis to export tungsten and molybdenum to foreign customers. It is one of biggest tungsten online businesses in the world and is the early explorer of this field.

The initial impression of the company for me is its clean, bright and succinctenvironment. The design and decoration meet the standard of minimalism. and that’s exactly what I like.I feel quite comfortable at the company. One lovely partof the company is that the fresh fruits are provided every day. And I think everyone loves this part.

Referring to my colleagues, there were six people in total at the Department of Network. Wu Bingcan, who is a webmaster at company, is an official staff. He’s definitely a master of computer and network thing, for someone who is very weak at the handling of computer like me. He’s sitting by side, and anytime there is a problem which I can’t solve, I would ask a help from him. He had provided me a lot welcoming help related to the computer during the one month.And I had learned a lot of tips for computer from him.

Sitting behind me were another 4 interns. They are Xu Canhui, XiongFeng, Xu Yongwei, and Zheng Zhilin. They are all funny guys who can always make a humor talking that makes people laugh out loud.They are all junior students from the same college.

In short. All my colleagues are lovely and welcoming people. And I wish to meet some more those people in my future career. Lovely people in a lovely environment. I have to say I like the company so much.

My job at the company is to translate those Chinese articles into English one, and upload them to the website. They are all related to tungsten and molybdenum. At first, it was no easy. There are so many technical words. which bring me a lot of difficulties on the translation. What’s difficult is to find the correct word for those technical words. During my internship, I found my weakness to be the lack of vocabulary and phrases. It slows down my speed of my article writing because I have to spend time looking up the dictionary, and figure out what the new word or phrase mean. And I decide to increase my vocabulary in the next semester. What satisfies me a little is that I am kind of good at translating those articles related to chemistry. The reason is probably I had read so many chemistryessays during my college study. And it reminds me that, to enhance your English at a specific field, you need a long-term training.

At last, Iwanna thank Mr. Hanns for giving me the chance to start the one-month internship. It is a worthy and lovely experience for me.

I still remember one saying from the English textbook of my junior high school: “It is important to remember the past and dream about the future.” Life is to experience, what has past does not just gone away. A great experience is a source that provides you confidence and strength to face the coming challenge and to be a better man.
