Tungsten Trioxide Applied for Study Thermal Insulating Glass Coating

Tungsten trioxide is often doped with a group VIII B metal element, and then it is prepared into dispersion for producing study thermal insulating glass coating - a well-known heat shielding material. For the raw material tungsten trioxide powder, the experts dispersed it using ultrasonic separation. And they conducted the structural characterization of the tungsten trioxide powder using X-ray diffraction (Philips by a KCu source with a wavelength of 1.54056 Aº).

And the experts also studied the morphology and particle size of the tungsten trioxide nanopowders using field emission electron microscopy (FESEM). Also, they investigated the compositional properties by using energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) coupled with the FESEM. The crystallite size (L, in Aº) was calculated from peak broadening using the Scherrer's approximation --- L=0.89λ/ Bcosθ. In this equation λ is the wavelength of the X-ray (1.5418 Aº), B is the full width at half maximum (FWHM, radian) and θ is the Bragg angle (degree).
