Gravity separation is the main tungsten concentrate beneficiation method, coarse separation, gravity separation and selection are three steps. Jigging separation is one of the important processes of gravity separation. The recycled tungsten concentrate in jigging separation accounts for more than 50% of the whole separation process.
Jigging separation is processed in jigger, the characteristic is adding coarse selected tungsten ore consistently into sieve plate of jigger and form into thick material layer. Injecting uplifting water by sieve plate regularly, the layer will rise and be loose. Then water current will fall down. During this process, minerals grain of different density will have relative transfer, heavy minerals will enter the bottom as concentrate, light minerals will become tailings in the upper layer.
When separate tungsten concentrate, it will be divided into three grades, which are coarse-, medium- and fine size, generally is called three level jigging. Jigging recycle rate of coarse and medium grains is 65%~75%, fine grains is 35%~45%.
Jigger has different types, such as diaphragm jig, hydraulic agitation jig, jigger withom piston and buddle jig. Buddle jig is the most widely applied one, it combines vibration of jigging material layer and water intermediates movement to obtain bigger stroke, so tungsten ore classification rate is higher, water consuming amount is smaller. Buddle jig can also be used in the primary coarse separation process.
Jigging early harvest and tabling is key of gravity separation. Tungsten concentrate recycled in jigging process accounts for more than 50% of gravity separation. It will reduce working amount of subsequent process and save cost.
