Sodium silicate is glass cement. In tungsten ore beneficiation process, it is used as inhibitor. It belongs to inorganic inhibitor.
In the midst of tungsten ore beneficiation process, application of sodium silicate is also a key part. Sodium silicate can also be dispersion agent of minerals. It can disperse minerals and decrease its cover for tungsten minerals, thus improve beneficiation effect. For some tungsten scheelite with complex components, sodium silicate along can not inhibit vein minerals, some other metal ions are also needed, such as Al3+、Mg2+、Cu2+、Fe2+ and Ca2+ . Other agents can also be used to enhance inhibiting function of sodium silicate. These agents can not inhibit vein minerals, but working with sodium silicate can have strong effect. They are called assisting inhibitor, such as FeSO4, 7H2O.
During the beneficiation process of tungsten concentrate, sodium silicate is also significant. But it doesn’t mean that more is better. Only within proper temperature and amount can it work with selective inhibiting function. That’s the reason why it is largely used in heating flotation method and room temperature flotation method.
Sodium silicate used in tungsten ore beneficiation has different types such as sodium silicate, sodium silicate with ammonium, metal ion with sodium silicate. Sodium silicate is a cost efficient choice as inhibitor.
