Literally, tungsten bar, also referred to as tungsten alloy bar, is a sort of metal bar made of tungsten. In the movie, a small bulk of tungsten bar was carried and threw by aeroplanes with formidable power to bomb a car or tank while a large bulk, launching to the Earth from space, can destroy a city with ease.

These tungsten bars need no detonating devices as traditional missiles but crash on the target with considerable force through kinetic energy. After entering the atmosphere layer, the tungsten bar goes flying in free fall with great kinertic energy which, according to the energy conversion law, is primarily transformed from the gravitational potential energy. Like a meteorite hitting the Earth, the tungsten bar exerts formidable force that can match the nuclear attack yet without radioactive dust as nuclear bombs do. The features of high melting point and high hardness make it suitable for tungsten to make the weapon. When an object goes fly through the atmosphere, the air around get heated at a temperature of about 1600 ℃ after continuous friction. Generally, metals get vaporized under such condition. But the melting point of about 3400 ℃ makes it possible for tungsten to remain the same state within the temperature.
