A new word "tungsten gold rod" has now been increasingly heard among the chain of economic distribution in the tungsten market. Here are three most frequent cases concern the so called "tungsten gold rod".

1) Metal tungsten, which is in fact the pure tungsten or tungsten alloy contained various elements, is mistakenly titled as "gold tungsten".

2) Certain metal with high proportion, eg. lead, is faked as "gold tungsten" with much lower cost than that of tungsten.

3) Tungsten that contains gold.

Actually, the above mentioned materials are mistaken and are technically supposed to name:

1) Metal tungsten or tungsten rod.

2) Lead.

3) Gold alloys.

It is very important to clarify the names for these materials differ greatly in price. The value of metal tungsten (also tungsten rod) is measured in ton per unit and the current market price is about 220,000 yuan to 30,000 yuan per ton. Equally, lead is measured in ton and valued 15,000 yuan in current market. Gold alloy is precisely the gold which belongs to precious metal and a small amount content of tungsten is not taken into account. Usually the precious metal is measured in gram with a current price of 160 RMB per gram which converts to 160 million yuan per ton.

This kind of "gold tungsten" has received many attention for a mistaken name is prone to cause fraud under a huge price difference. At present, scientists have not yet found the way to combine tungsten and gold into the complete solid solution alloy. As the application of the tungsten-contained gold alloy remains unclear, it takes time to study closely whether its value can be measured by the standard of the gold price. So, it is better to think twice when you are dealing in the "gold tungsten".
