Tungsten carbide gear hob is worm-shaped and is the equivalent of a helical gear with few teeth and large helix angle. It performs gear cutting according to the principle of spiral gear meshing through generating method. Tungsten carbide gear hob is the equivalent of a small gear, while the gear being cut is that of a big gear. Gear hob is a spiral gear with large β0 helix angle and only a few long teeth (about 1～3 teeth), making it look like a worm with very small γz lead angle. In order to form a blade, a few chip pocket are milled along the axis on the end face of worm to form the rake face and the tool orthogonal rake, and the tool orthogonal clearance and the flank surface are formed through form-relieved tooth and relief grinding.
